My mother's wallet was stolen from her store yesterday.
With my social security number in it.
*headdesk*
The morons that stole it bought gas and then went to a store and bought $382 worth of stuff. Luckily, they used mom's store debit card, a card she's had for a year and never used (comes automatically with the bank account). The bank recognized immediately that there were problems (but unfortunately was calling her at the store after closing - they finally called her at home). All credit cards/debit cards have been cancelled, police reports have been filled out, etc. Unfortunately, mom's social security card was in her wallet. Even more unfortunately, due to a recent realization that my sister's SS# was on my pay stubs at the store, my social security number was written down and in her wallet to correct paperwork. Which means I had to call Equifax last night to put a fraud alert on my SS number. This is going to be *really* fun when I go to buy a car soon.
