Why are all the radio stations trying to put me to sleep today? James Taylor on top of Sarah McLaughlin, and when I turn to the random station "98.7 Simon" (who advertises themselves as a random station that plays everything, and got Simon Cowell to do a commercial for them when he was in town), they put on Tim McGraw. But not just Tim, we're talking really depressing Tim. (Note that the station is not a country station. *g* They will play Miles Davis, Tim McGraw, AC/DC...oh, now we're on to Wham.)

When I'm sitting at mom's store, don't get to concentrate on things long (there are things I could be reading, but do I get to read more than a sentence?), am mildly bored, and having a shopping attack, it's probably a very, very good thing that payday is Tuesday, so I don't have much money right now, and my Dillard's credit card is at home. Because the Dillard's website has lots o' pretty shoes.

I want to write. I have visual stimuli to write. But my brain is not cooperating.

Per last week's post, I have started doing things that are different and unique. I bought a plant! (What? This is huge for me. *g*) It's a cactus, as I fully believe I should start small and with something harder to kill.

I need something else for my next big adventure. I kind of want to do boxing, though. Don't ask why. It's a random, weird thing.

Things I don't like: the shopper lull.

That portion of time on a Saturday when there's nothing going on, in which you end up doing the tedious work. Which isn't too bad, when the lull starts at 1, which leaves a prime opportunity to shut the store down at 2. Except for that one customer that comes in at 1:50. Still, mom would have sent me home at 2...

And then the rush starts in again.

The way it's been lately with customers, they just don't pay attention to store hours. It annoys us, because they don't pay attention to hours, they go to Greensboro to shop or the mall (both places with longer hours) and then complain because we weren't open. Yet do they think about the part where we have to pay for the power to sit in a store with nothing to do or pay an employee for working for 5 hours, which negates any profit? Oh wait, I don't get paid, since I'm nice and my mother's daughter.

Also, the dear lady that asked me about a product last week? And I couldn't find it? And her coworker swears she got it here? And I can't find it in a catalog? Yeah, when I keep saying that you have to special order it and since I can't find it, please get in contact with my mother during the week, I'm not joking. She thought we'd restocked it in a week, even though I TOLD her that we don't restock this time of year.

(*sigh* The problems with this business is that every teacher expects us to have everything all the time, and when we don't - because we can't afford to stock everything, there's this thing called being in the black that we haven't seen since we opened - they get all huffy and think we're lame. This is the internet age for you. The only reason they're coming to us anyway is because they want to see the product before they purchase it, so online is harder to do.)
