Toyota Sponsafier Commercial

Some image grabs, because this commercial was so freaking genius. (The first one was awesome, because we got Reut in that outfit saying he loved love. The second one had a trifecta of genius.)

For [livejournal.com profile] bubblesbrnaid:

For the record, I didn't see the hand the first several times we saw this on Sunday. Mikey really is dressed as Napoleon!

Michael Waltrip )

Also, Kyle and Joey. Because the outfits/expressions are priceless.

Kyle Busch and Joey Logano )

ETA: Reutimann in the comments.

NASCAR Conspiracy

Damn.

Apparently, last week at Texas, Logano couldn't maintain minimum speed. He was going too slow to be on the track. And NASCAR let him stay out and finish the race.

Just...whoa. Whoa. That WAY trumps random debris cautions for supreme idiocy on the part of NASCAR.

And off to bed...

For it has been an exhausting week. I got home tonight, ate dinner, watched Survivor, and promptly sat down in front of the computer to edit my mother's resume and cover letter. (This is a much better option than when she wanted me to write her resume. She did the writing. I'm formatting and suggesting wording alternatives.)

So her resume is done. Her cover letter is done. Mine needs some tweaking, but that's a chore for tomorrow night. I'm itching because there's a front coming in, so I'm going to bed and getting warm and sleeping this week off. (Especially since I'm doing 6 hours at the rehab center tomorrow.)

ETA: Oh, and in NASCAR news that I find astonishingly funny/stupid, Logano has been pulled from the 96 car because they don't think him learning to drive a crappy car is a good learning experience. (Actually, that's Larry Mac's take and probably Gibbs' take. HOF is saying they need a veteran's feedback so they can make the car better - hence Kenny Schrader.) Personally? Those two races were the best thing Joey could have to deal with. He's now seen what it's like to not be in plum equipment. May he have slightly better perspective going into his rookie season so he doesn't mouth off at the wrong people.

Why Marc Davis is way more awesome than Joey Logano

Marc Davis is racing in the Truck Series today. What did he do? He asked Dennis Setzer for advice and took experience he had racing against Dennis at Hickory as a baseline for how he'd need to run against what Dennis runs in Truck.

He sat down for a good long while with Ted Musgrave yesterday to go over how to run the track, how to run the truck, how to adjust.

He ran into Ron Hornaday at the Mexican restaurant in Mooresville this past week and asked him for advice. (Ron said "See me at the track and I'll tell you all the wrong things to do." Ron cracks me up. If you can handle Ron picking on you, you're golden.)

People, the notable in this? The youngest of these guys is 48. Marc went to experienced guys, respecting what they know and how they can help him, and started out by playing nice. He didn't walk in the door expecting to be handed anything, he didn't walk in the door expecting he'd run better than veterans.

Keep in mind, this kid (he's 18 and 2 months) has a 5 year plan. He started on his plan at age 16. He may not have the natural innate talent at this point that Joey Logano has, but he's sensible, logical, and has goals that he intends on achieving. He's more likely to make something happen than Sliced Bread. And making something happen is great, because it's not waiting for things to happen to you. He's the guy that will have all sorts of career options post-racing, whereas Joey will be living out his glory days on his front porch.

Now off to rehab.

NASCAR News Roundup

1. Evernham is suing Robby Gordon. Kind of have to say, based upon how the partnership agreement was handled by GEM back at the beginning of the year, I'm siding with Robby. It was pitched to the press as a partnership, not as a buyout, so something tells me GEM isn't playing with a full deck.

2. Joey Logano is attempting to make this weekend's race. I'm hoping qualifying gets rained out.

3. Darian Grubb has been named crew chief of the #14 car next year (that's Tony Stewart). Mellow man with Chevy background. Does he have kids? That'll be the deciding factor on whether he's right for Tony. (What? Zippy started it!)

4. Stremme is back! In the #12 car next year. Which means Penske doesn't lose their quotient of drivers who are "fat and out of shape".

5. David Ragan may get UPS next year. More importantly, does that mean we finally get UPS commercials that don't feature DJ? And can he ship goats? He must ship goats!

6. The running of the Richmond race is in doubt thanks to Tropical Storm Hanna. Quite frankly, I'm more worried about all the rednecks in motorhomes and tents. Wind is not their friend! So RIR and NASCAR - get on board with postponing so those people can be safe!

7. NASCAR out of the blue announced they'll have a new drug policy next year. Hmmm. Think they *finally* got a clue about the whole Aaron Fike thing?
