Enjoying the Twitter battle between Melinda Doolittle and Elliott Yamin regarding who the best third place finisher on Idol has ever been. There's good natured ribbing between the two. Tis adorable.
The part that's pissing me off (and I'm sure will make
sullivanlane absolutely livid), is that it's very, very clear that the best two of all the third place finishers are Melinda and Elliott. But for some stupid as hell reason, the person in third in this contest (ha!) so far is...Danny Gokey. For real. NOT Kimberly Locke, who is way closer in talent to Melinda and Elliott than anyone else.
In fact, here's my order.
1. Melinda Doolittle (but just barely)
2. Elliott Yamin
3. Kimberly Locke
4. Vonzell Solomon
5. Danny Gokey
6. Syesha Mercado
7. Nikki McKibbin
8. Jasmine Trias
(Also also, justification for 4-8: Vonzell was the most likable of all the people who could sing, but you realized probably weren't going to have a career post-Idol. Danny and Syesha got on my nerves, but their voices were most of the time at least decent, even if they didn't know who they were musically. Nikki, I still defend her to this day, because she went in with her own style and doing what she did and owned it. So while her voice wasn't the best, she still could sing and did her thing. As opposed to last place finisher Jasmine, who had none of the above, save a middling voice at best.)
And for Sully, so she can rectify the situation: the link.
Now I want a "fourth place finisher" battle, because Chris Daughtry v. Tamyra Gray v. Allison Iraheta? OH YEAH.
