Veronica Mars and How I Met Your Mother
For those that care, EW.com is reporting that Kristin Bell (of Veronica Mars) is set to be the voice over narrator on Gossip Girl.
So the question begs...will she be as good as Bob Saget as future Ted on How I Met Your Mother? Inquiring minds want to know. Okay, so I'm the only one that cares. What? I have bizarre love for Bob Saget.
ETA: HIMYM got renewed! Score!

bubblesbrnaid and I are going to the Pit Crew Challenge tonight. And we have really good seats. (Mostly thanks to the glitch in the Charlotte Bobcats Arena's website that prevented me from buying the cheaper seats. But the price difference was so small that really, didn't care.)

American Idol
I enjoyed all of last night's show, for the most part.
Melinda got the good end of the stick on song choice (thank you producers for fulfilling my wish and giving me Tina Turner). Even though Randy was way off base in choosing a Whitney song for her, when taking all three songs as a whole, it balanced out. In fact, I'm pretty sure Melinda looked at her other songs when choosing her third song, to give balance and show variety.
Blake did surprisingly well on "Roxanne", a song that is so dang hard to sing. I give him credit for doing his best with it, because even Sting can't hit those notes these days. Given Blake's more limited range, I was scared. His second song was really good and in his style (although I still fear it could lead to comparisons as it's just that new). The only song I think was a mistake was the Robin Thicke song. I wasn't sure about his pacing at one point, but more importantly, I think there's a whole generation of AI voters that just won't get it. (Namely, my mother's generation. She calls every week questioning my generation's music choices thanks to Gwen Stefani, Robin Thicke, Pink, Fergie, etc. The only one she's found mildly tolerable has been Martina McBride, a woman she instantly fell in love with.)
Jordin got the short end of the stick on song choice, since she wisely was given a great ballad (with a bad arrangement - it really was too jazzy/swingy), but she accompanied that with another ballad that she did more recently than Melinda's rerun, and an upbeat song that was just horrible. It wasn't Jordin's fault it was horrible (the performance could have been more appropriate in terms of being upbeat); the song is not suited for 17 year olds (depending on interpretation, she's neither working class or a hooker, so...). But it could inadvertently reflect badly on her. Still, now is the time for her a-game, not b-game.
In the end, I'm with Simon. I want "my girl" in the finals. I've got arguments why each person could or could not win. I've also got arguments as to whether each person should or should not win. Which is for another post at another time.
