As I was tagged to do this (which is the only way I ever do memes most of the time - I see my name and go "what's this"...hee!):

List seven songs you are into right now. Whatever the genre, whether or not there are lyrics, or even if they're no good, they must be songs you are presently enjoying. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Satisfied - Ashley Monroe
2. Lolita - Prince
3. Not Ready To Make Nice - Dixie Chicks
4. Superman Theme - John Williams
5. Hearts in Armor - Trisha Yearwood
6. Ain't No Other Man - Christina Aguilera (I blame the video)
7. Home - Marc Broussard

Thanks to spellcheck in Word, I learned a new word.

Appose: v. place side by side or in close proximity

(The word in the document was supposed to be "oppose", and we were shocked that spellcheck didn't catch that typo. Hence a trip to Dictionary.com.

Lesson for the day, folks!

(To do list for LJ today - NASCAR Picspam (Harvick heavy), icon posting (nothing fancy like most of y'all can do, and a Superman comparison in honor of Superman Returns.)

It's Superman Day! *squee*

For that reason, I bring you my very own special "Supermen" post.

Okay, so I have a thing with Superman - even with the suit and the strong posture and the superpowers, what really makes him Superman is the eyes. His eyes compel you to look at him. A commanding gaze is what I need to really believe that the guy is bigger than life.

Now, I do honestly believe that Routh just doesn't take pictures well, so the fact that I haven't connected with him in photos is probably due to that. I like most everything about him but the eyes. They aren't bold enough for me. (Or maybe it's because his brows are so bold - they detract from his eyes.)

Anyway, I thought I'd use some visuals of Supermen and what I mean, because even though the still photos don't do it, I'm so VERY excited for the guy on the big screen (especially after everyone's excitement who's seen it already).

First, Dean Cain )

He of the kinder, gentler Superman. While his eyes aren't as compelling at Chris' or Tom's, he has a life in them that really makes them sparkle. It's not necessarily about exuding power all the time, but about exuding a strong sense of self.

Second, Tom Welling )

He doesn't have the startling blue of Chris or the rich brown of Dean, but what he does have is ultimate control of his face and eyes (especially in still pictures - on screen sometimes he gets wooden when the acting requires for great subtlety). He knows how to stare you down and make you look. It's more than just being pretty, it's about being commanding, and Tom does this nearly as well as Chris.

Third, Chris Reeve )

If you look at that picture, it's little, it's tiny, and yet you can see the crystal blue of his eyes and the look of determination. There's so much strength and character in that one face - a look that creates a super man.

Lastly, Brandon Routh )

There's a disadvantage in the fact that he's not looking at the camera, but his eyes lack the forcefulness (in this shot) that compel me to pay attention to him. It was early on, though, which made it harder - he hadn't had a chance to inhabit the character of Superman for long.

[livejournal.com profile] paperbkryter just emailed me this and I may have squealed and died a little. Okay, a lot. Okay, I'm bouncing in my seat.

It's Superman! And Batman!

Bale, meet Routh. Routh, meet Bale. Now will somebody do a movie (that's not them fighting one another)? Cause a picture with the two makes me really, really want them on screen together.

NASCAR Picspam - Harvick Edition

Because I was feeling the Harvick love and noticed I had a bunch of pictures of him saved up, I felt a picspam was in order. Some of these are from others on my f-list and some are from various picture resources. Comprehensive Kevin love, for the old and new fans. (Okay, so it's also a thinly veiled attempt to get [livejournal.com profile] queenofalostart lusting on Kevin as well.)

Harvick! Spammin! )

You know, after looking at tons of Kevin pictures...boy has a huge head.
