American Idol: The Men (And Boys)
1. Taylor: But I liked this performance! Jeez! It was a much better fit than Levon and entertaining in a way that none of the others could have pulled off. One of those moments where apparently I don't agree with teh judges.
2. Elliott: I so do love him. He's my favorite. Of the guys. He enunciated better and just nailed that song. I seriously adore him. *floves the Elliott* Unfortunately, I did yell "Go Ellyut" at least once last night. Great. I'm now combining NASCAR and American Idol. *sigh*
3. Ace: My ears did bleed. I think he's safe and should be safe, because he makes better choices than anyone else, but that song was not a good choice. He was straining so hard for the high notes that I thought he'd give himself a hernia. I'm with Simon (who is about the only one who has a tendency to note what it might sound like on TV).
4. Gedeon: He still creeps me out, but who gives a flip? He can sing like that! Boy! And that was some serious competitive singing. Yeah, he's in the wrong decade, but the boy came to play.
5. Kevin: Cute as a button, sarcastic and funny as hell, and he needs to go bye bye now. (But not before David Radford goes goodbye. If they go together it's okay. But David needs to go first.) I love Kevin. I'd hang out with him. But he's not a singer; he's a kid with a good singing voice.
6. Sway: I'm torn, because I know Sway can sing, but he's just not giving me anything to root for. Not even the money note! I'm worried that he'll become a casualty tonight because he's just not as memorable.
7. Will: *swoons* Okay, so while I don't see him in the top 12, I do see what's swoon worthy about him. Yeah, it was Broadway. But come on! It's Lady! It's Kenny frickin' Rogers! Kenny is cool, but he always had a certain tinge of cheese to him. It can't be helped. I liked it. For another week, folks, despite the scary Justin Guarini stalker thing he has going.
8. Bucky: He chose the right song to sing, and he enjoyed the hell out of it. The boy is terrified to be on TV, though. Everybody else gets how to mug for the camera, but he just seems slightly frightened of it. LOL I get why Simon says he's not headliner material. He really doesn't feel like it. I'd like to see him in his own element, but hey, he's entertaining and I have a soft spot for him. I think he, like Sway, could be a casualty tonight, though, if one of the younguns' fanbase got rabid.
9. David: *gags* Seriously, can he go now?
10. Chris: He sang Fuel. *blinks* And he sang it well. I get Chris now, and he connects with me. (Elliott is still my favorite, though. *g*) You know, he and Mandisa are the only ones who've sung songs this week that actually came out in the last five years. This may sound odd, but can that be a prerequisite for the semifinal round in the future? It gives us a better idea of how current they can be and how they might sell in today's music market.
