American Idol: The Men (And Boys)

1. Taylor: But I liked this performance! Jeez! It was a much better fit than Levon and entertaining in a way that none of the others could have pulled off. One of those moments where apparently I don't agree with teh judges.

2. Elliott: I so do love him. He's my favorite. Of the guys. He enunciated better and just nailed that song. I seriously adore him. *floves the Elliott* Unfortunately, I did yell "Go Ellyut" at least once last night. Great. I'm now combining NASCAR and American Idol. *sigh*

3. Ace: My ears did bleed. I think he's safe and should be safe, because he makes better choices than anyone else, but that song was not a good choice. He was straining so hard for the high notes that I thought he'd give himself a hernia. I'm with Simon (who is about the only one who has a tendency to note what it might sound like on TV).

4. Gedeon: He still creeps me out, but who gives a flip? He can sing like that! Boy! And that was some serious competitive singing. Yeah, he's in the wrong decade, but the boy came to play.

5. Kevin: Cute as a button, sarcastic and funny as hell, and he needs to go bye bye now. (But not before David Radford goes goodbye. If they go together it's okay. But David needs to go first.) I love Kevin. I'd hang out with him. But he's not a singer; he's a kid with a good singing voice.

6. Sway: I'm torn, because I know Sway can sing, but he's just not giving me anything to root for. Not even the money note! I'm worried that he'll become a casualty tonight because he's just not as memorable.

7. Will: *swoons* Okay, so while I don't see him in the top 12, I do see what's swoon worthy about him. Yeah, it was Broadway. But come on! It's Lady! It's Kenny frickin' Rogers! Kenny is cool, but he always had a certain tinge of cheese to him. It can't be helped. I liked it. For another week, folks, despite the scary Justin Guarini stalker thing he has going.

8. Bucky: He chose the right song to sing, and he enjoyed the hell out of it. The boy is terrified to be on TV, though. Everybody else gets how to mug for the camera, but he just seems slightly frightened of it. LOL I get why Simon says he's not headliner material. He really doesn't feel like it. I'd like to see him in his own element, but hey, he's entertaining and I have a soft spot for him. I think he, like Sway, could be a casualty tonight, though, if one of the younguns' fanbase got rabid.

9. David: *gags* Seriously, can he go now?

10. Chris: He sang Fuel. *blinks* And he sang it well. I get Chris now, and he connects with me. (Elliott is still my favorite, though. *g*) You know, he and Mandisa are the only ones who've sung songs this week that actually came out in the last five years. This may sound odd, but can that be a prerequisite for the semifinal round in the future? It gives us a better idea of how current they can be and how they might sell in today's music market.

1. I'm not getting enough sleep. I can't figure out whether to blame caffeine intake, staying up until 11 watching TV (why yes, I am elderly), sheer laziness which means expending less energy and being less tired when it counts, or Sudoku.

***

2. I am drinking too much Coke, eating crap, and gaining weight. I am not, however, pregnant. This is not funny. This weekend I have to do much exercising, start a program that works, find a way to hook up the stupid VCR with cable so I can tape Fit TV, and start weaning myself from the Coke (again).

***

3. I have written NASCAR slash. Three stories in fact. Which need some refining, because I'm not totally happy with them.

***

4. Itching is at the random and mild stage. Expect it will go nuts tomorrow, when I have to dust things in the office.

***

5. Prospective client visit on Wednesday means hectic around here. Lots of cleaning and rearranging on a level we haven't done in ages. That's a sign of the money involved.

***

6. Heat waves and my apartment don't mix. Just ask the dog. It was 80 in there last night. I actually had to wet Chester down so that he'd stop panting. (And yes, I'm just stubborn enough to not turn on the air considering it's supposed to be in the 50s by Saturday.)

***

7. Now back to my regularly scheduled WORK WORK WORK. I swear, I'd like to actually *read* my f-list sometime this month. Lately all I've had time for is random skimming. (Okay, and my random skimming has been limited to commenting on American Idol and NASCAR. I had to choose! Don't worry, I still find Sam and Dean incredibly hot, as well as Dad, and I fully intend to squeal over Supernatural at some point in the future when there's time. But let me just say, I have three tapes of shows that I normally watch that I haven't been able to. Too much to do! No time!)

Ack! It's back!

NASCAR's Sexiest Driver

A.k.a. "Let's make Junior really get annoyed with us."

The pairings:

Bracket 1

Dale Jr. v. Casey Mears
Harvick v. Mikey
Johnson v. B. Lab.
Newman v. Stewart (yeah, I'm giggling like mad *g*)

Bracket 2

Jeff G. v. Jamie Mac
Kasey v. Ellyut
Flipper v. Kurt Busch (we all know how this will end, ears notwithstanding)
DJ v. Truex

***

Yeah, so I'm voting for Junior (what? Mears is too young by far), Harvick (duh), B. Lab (also duh) and Stewart in bracket one. Jamie Mac, Ellyut (the pretty isn't sexy), Flipper (despite the fact that he's like a kid) and DJ (also duh).
