Am back! Yep, I'm here! So what all happened while I was gone? Update me, cause there's no way in hell I'll get very far back on LJ.

Things of note from vacation time:

1. [livejournal.com profile] paperbkryter and I kept acting like we were at a con. Staying up late, watching tons of Smallville and LnC and comparing/contrasting. Snarking on Spell and drooling over Transference. Much fun.

2. Number of animals petted/played with: 5 dogs, 4 cats , 3 horses, a pony. And Katie-dog? Is a wild child. Hee!

3. Number of airplane passengers whose death I plotted: 1. (Thanks, dude, for the loud replay of the whole under-age drinking and driving court issues. Asshole.)

4. Swag I came home with: a Pretenders album (yes, album), John Schneider's Greatest Hits, Sara Evans Born to Fly, City of Angels soundtrack, cookbook, book on ghosts, book on unexplained mysteries of the natural world, two vintage hats ([livejournal.com profile] koshka_the_cat will be only marginally jealous, as they're not quite old enough), and a cigar box purse that rocks hard.

***

Mood icon? Totally appropriate. So. Tired.

[livejournal.com profile] zeplum, according to tracking your b-day present should be waiting for you tonight. *g*

***

[livejournal.com profile] bubblesbrnaid, don't laugh at me, but I hit Bubbles withdrawal yesterday. Shut up. No giggling at me. So, um...BSG-athon Saturday night? *g* Or Buffy-movie-athon on Friday or Saturday night? (Depending on whether I get called for volunteer duty at the Coliseum.)

Let's see if this function will work.

I hate LJ this morning. Won't let me comment suddenly. Or respond to comments. Grrrr.

My grandmother has to have emergency back surgery (if her stress test comes back that it won't damage her heart too much). The compressed spine is borderline on causing permanent partial paralysis. By Friday we should know something. When the surgery happens she'll be in the hospital for 2-3 weeks and then home recovery with a back brace for 6-8 weeks. The doctor has been reminded vociferously that she is 81 and lives alone. He swears she can recover at home fine by herself.

Yeah.

Which is why we hope that it coincides well with my cousin who's coming in to town for a week in October. Or that my bosses won't refuse me a week's vacation for the first week of recovery.

Work is being quiet. I'm suspicious.

I am about five seconds away from starting fashion interventions.

Dear Lady on the Street:

I have nothing against plastic skirts. In the right ensemble they can be cute, individual, and trendy. It's a very unique statement. But can we talk about the knee length A-line plastic skirt in basic black with granny flats and a white pull-over? No. Just...no. Especially not when it's obvious you just wore it to work in the nice, conservative financial district.

Dear Guy on the Street:

On first glance you are a hottie. On second glance you are a poser. Way to ruin your natural good looks.

First, the Diesel jeans (and I chose Diesel because I could tell they were a Brand, and Diesel is the only Brand I know)...I have nothing against the jeans. Very nice jeans. They work great on you, being you're all slim hipped and all. Except rolling up the cuffs? With the fancy schmancy sandals? So wrong. I've seen that fashion trend for women, but for men? And even if it is a trend, no.

Second, the stubble is all shades of too perfect. Too dark, too even, too stenciled on. Granted, this is the South, where stubble is far more natural than in Hollywood, but damn. Stubble is meant to denote a devil may care sexy attitude, not a spent too much time with the kohl in the mirror attitude. See Keith Urban. He learned about the art of stubble.

Third, the carefully slicked down hair and the geek glasses to complete the look? Do not a coherent whole make. I swear, this look started out with promise, but on a second glance was pure disaster.
