Cooter says "Skip the Dukes Movie"
"Basically, they trashed our show," said Jones, who read a script of the Warner Brothers movie, which is scheduled to be released next month. "It's one thing to do whatever movie they want to do, but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking 'I Love Lucy' and making her a crackhead or something."
You go Cooter!
I'm kind of surprised it wasn't John Schneider saying it. I'm pretty sure the entire cast is on the same wavelength. Really, every time the commercial airs it strikes home that they never understood why The Dukes were successful. Thinking that Seann William Scott was right to play dumb but sweet Bo Duke? All he does is make Bo a dumbass. No sweet involved. Having Johnny Knoxville at all in the movie? A guarantee that it's going to be a raunchfest and not actually approach the core of why it was fun. Other characters becoming caricatures of who they actually were (Enos) or stunt casting for the sake of...I'm still not sure why (Burt Reynolds, Willie Nelson).
And the thing is, when you watch a trailer and realize that the best part is that Jessica Simpson seems to get it (more than likely because she was raised watching the Dukes and has the fortune to have a southern accent - really, the accent's naturalness counts when everything else sucks), then you know that all signs point to outrageously, stupendously bad.
