[livejournal.com profile] veaglarwen rocks. She's got caps of all the memories that Clark lost and regained. It's really interesting to look at. I suggest you head over, check them out, then discuss.

I went nuts last night at the book store. I went in wanting to buy lots of sci-fi. It's important to realize that I don't read sci-fi. The visuals rock, but for the most part, I don't read it. But given my desire lately to write sci-fi (can I please finish a book I start writing? dang muses), I decided to do some research, buy some stuff. I'm a sucker for the classics. I freely admit to having a warm spot for H.G. Wells. "Enemy Mine" by Barry B. Longyear is my favorite story in the sci-fi genre (and one of my favorite stories of all time). Isaac Asimov is the man, but for the life of me I can't decide which of his to read first. (I probably should ask my dad about Isaac.)

Last night, going with popular culture, I picked up "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" and "War of the Worlds." And because I am weird, I got a Moroccan Arabic phrasebook. Yeah. I told you, weird. (But also because I really want to go on a trip to Morocco, so I'm preparing.)

I had to stop myself and wait until tonight to get the other books I want, though. An astronomy book, a book on wilderness survival, and a few craft books (not to mention the Isaac). There's no telling what else I'll walk out with. *sigh* At least this isn't the same as the weird shopping trip where I walked out with a book on hyperspace theory.

Okay, this one has me boggling, but I'll watch.

One Tree Hill gets Jeff Burton

Watch the trailer and I'm sure you'll be scratching your head as much as me (if you watch NASCAR and get the absolute absurdity of the whole premise). But hey, any show that picks Jeff Burton as a driver to feature, that works for me! Sadly they don't show him in that trailer. Thanks to Dubya, I watched Blue Collar TV instead of Survivor, and the commercial for One Tree Hill prominently featured and mentioned Jeff. (Warning for the clueless about NASCAR - Jeff Burton is a much better speaker than his brother, but there is an accent involved that will make you blink.)

Well. Hell.

Guess who's headed home?

That's right. My sister.

Seems the situation with the new guy didn't work out. And there apparently were a few things that made her realize how beautifully she screwed up. My BIL filing for divorce was one. The other? Apparently was when she found out from my mom how mad I am.

The thing is, I think my sister is talking crap. The first question I asked my mom was if K. was headed to counseling. Mom says she's prepared for it. I won't buy it until it happens. I also asked if K. thought she was going to get back together with my BIL. We don't know if she thinks it'll happen or not, but K. is headed to BIL's house at the moment. K. will be moving in with my parents for a few days. Then they're looking in to renting her a small apartment. The dog will be staying with my BIL.

I think my sister ended up in a situation that wasn't as good as she had hoped (not nearly as Sugar Daddy) and wanted to come home. She'd already screwed up so badly, though, that now she has to face the bad issues of not having a home to come to (in terms of her own) and having some family members that don't want anything to do with her. We're just a side effect, though. We're not the real reason she's coming home.

Counseling, if it happens, will be for my sister mainly, but also for the rest of the family and my BIL. Even if he's still getting the divorce, my mom wants him to have the counseling for himself. He's not perfect and has anger issues. Apparently his anger issues were why the dog broke her foot last fall. He needs counseling.

Let me tell you, though. Put me in the room with a counselor and I'm sure I'll find that my ways of coping may not be healthy for me, but may be right for dealing with my sister. (I can just see me having to print out my LJ entries to take to a counselor because they want my innermost thoughts. SHeah.)

My one fear was that in the process of heading home today she'd come by mom's store. I'm here working for mom this afternoon instead of at my regular job. Child better not waltz her butt in here. I'll remove it straight up.
First part, the sister.

Second part, a really weird situation that at least tells me some things about myself, involving my former best friend's mother. (F-locked so if the former best friend has ever been lurking around my journal, she won't find this. Believe me when I say, if she got wind, she'd hit the fan. Since she's being an ass, I wouldn't feel guilty, but I'd like to avoid the pain for her mother.)
