Getting my tattoo on Wed. was an interesting experience for several reason, but there was the added complication of my parents. When my sister was 18, she got a tattoo. Given my sister's personality and all the other things she was doing at the time, this was not a good thing in their eyes.
It's been 6 years since then, but there's still the knowledge of what they'd do in regards to my tattoo. I don't like the hiding something so silly from my parents, but the alternative is what? Censure? "The look"?
I got all of one day without telling mom. One day. LOL I didn't feel like hiding it, so I told her. And showed her. (Then called my dad in Oregon - he's there for work for three and a half weeks - just so he'd get it at the same time as mom.) Dad's reaction? "I don't know you" followed by laughter. My mom...she isn't crazy about it, but she thinks it's "kind of cute".
My sister is disappointed at the lack of fireworks.
