I'll most likely be floating in and out of LiveJournal land for the next few days. Things are kind of hectic on the home front, so I'm not feeling too chatty. Plus work is picking up a little.

Don't worry T, I'm almost done betaing the Petefic. I need to do a couple more read throughs, with some time in between. A couple of hours space between readings lets me see anything that might need fixing better. (Although betaing things you write is so damn easy. *g*)

You know, at some point I am going to try writing X-Men fic. *sigh* Maybe Wednesday night? Thursday day? After I see the movie again.

Right now the family concentration is on keeping my grandmother from becoming a blubbering mess and keeping my aunt and mother from taking a baseball bat to an orthopedic surgeon.

Note to doctors - do not admit the damn mistakes you have made in the course of surgery in front of family members. They will most likely try to take your head off, especially when your mistakes lead to having to remove the hip replacement you put in a 75-year-old man two weeks ago, just to get rid of the nasty infection that came from *your hospital*! Oh, and don't tell the family member that the infection most likely came from a hospital worker who didn't wash their hands enough before going into the operating room, or that it could have been a utensil that wasn't sterilized enough.

Dumb asses.

Needless to say, my mother is livid. My grandfather has no hip currently and won't have one for 6 weeks.

Note the fact that my sister gets married in 5 weeks.

We are very unhappy with this doctor.

Damn it. I'm too damn pure! I swear, I've had plenty of lascivious thoughts. It's the acting them out that never happens. *sigh*

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Spamming LiveJournal today. But damn, these are cute. (And damn, my language is heading downhill for the day already. *G*)
Less than 5 weeks until my sister's wedding.

So far the following has been acomplished:

1. The invitations: They went out in the mail on Monday. These were stuffed and sealed and addressed on Saturday. Note that the addressing was done by mail merge. Computer generated. I was the lone voice of reason on this point. Let it be noted that I am the only person in my family not doomed to an eternity in hell because the envelopes were not hand addressed. Also let it be known that my dad was in fact responsible for typing in names, so therefore it is not my fault (or my mother's) that a family friend's first name is spelled "Allan" instead of "Allen" or that my best friend of 21 years had her last name spelled "McClain" instead of "McLain." My dad is just clueless. He never bothers to actually read the names of the people we've known for most of our lives.

2. The bachelorette party: As maid of honor, it is my duty to be in charge of the bachelorette party. But as the decidedly tame maid of honor, I lost that option and one of the bridesmaids is now in charge. Weezie is apparently planning a very big, wild, outrageous weekend at the beach. I am to be one of five people at this thing (Weezie and my sister, of course, then two other people). My sister has actually expressed fear of this event. For some reason, the fact that my sister - the convicted felon - is afraid makes me highly nervous.

3. Flowers and Dresses and Accessories, oh my!: The bridesmaid dresses are in, but I need to get my skirt altered. The shoes I have. The bra and lots of padding I have. The necklaces...we're not sure if we have. We're still waiting to see if they come in on order. Gah. And our flowers have been arranged for. So all seems to be going well on that front.

4. Portraits: My sister had her portraits done, and the proofs are now in for selection. So, you know those lovely pictures in bridal magazines? You either get the really bad pictures of really bad dresses, or you get the really beautiful pictures with the gorgeous women in exquisite dresses looking way too beautiful, which means they must be hurt. My sister's portraits, well...they fall into the latter category. One in particular makes you want to cry with how beautiful she looks. I may have to hurt her. After the wedding I'll get hold of that one and scan it for online. That way you can all marvel at how much my sister and I do not look alike.

5. Bridal shower: We had the first of two showers for my sister on Sunday. This one by our side of the family (the fiance's family's turn comes in three weeks). Lots of stuff was received, with only two duplicates (and damn if she didn't get two crock pots - like the girl cooks). There was much to laugh about, especially considering that one of my great aunts (who sees me about once every two months) couldn't figure out who "the redhead who looks sort of like our family" was that was sitting beside the bride (and yes, it was me). I'm still trying to figure out how so many family members have missed me with red hair. Like it's new. *snort* I've had red hair off and on for a couple of years now. More on for the last year.

And the end of the day is here. I'm off and running, as I have to get home to work out. Must have a flat tummy for the beach trip. I doubt I can do anything about the Jello butt or the fact that I'm whiter than Michael Jackson, but I can flatten this tummy, damn it!
