Anyone watching Alcatraz?

Cause I have a question. And I'm embarrassed that it took me this long to figure this out (although in my defense, I'm just watching the latest ep right now.)

If Det. Madsen is Tommy Madsen's daughter, how is that math supposed to work out? He disappeared in 1963. Even supposing they cast younger than the character is supposed to be, there was a comment in the first ep about her being young for a detective. But there's also the fact that even she isn't questioning anything about how her age is supposed to jive given the facts. (For the record, the actress was born in 1983. 20 year age gap? Really? That character, if fathered by Tommy Madsen, would have to be 49 years old (which is not young for a detective).

Anyone got any theories?

Only watched the first three episodes, but I thought they said she was his *granddaughter*?

Okay, maybe that's it. It takes me awhile these days to engage with a show, so I find myself missing important details.

Ha! And they just clarified everything, with Ray Archer having raised Tommy's son, then his granddaughter. So yeah. Whew.

Grand-daughter, but still ref'd whatisface as her 'uncle' which is just dropping the grand, because he's awesome. Or something.

There are HOLES. Or possibly a missing episode, because you blinked, and suddenly there was a whole room of fairly ineffectual squits analysing keys and earthquakes with maps that look like I made them.


Really, if it has JJ anywhere in the Creation or Producers credits, I just sit back and enjoy the ride. (which totally isn't true - witness Once Upon a Time)

I DO love that their ambitious enough to have all PAST events occurring in 1960, so it gives them through 1963 to tell stories. But oh, the madness of it all.

I'm loving the show especially since I went to Alcatraz last summer when I was in San Francisco last. Very creepy seeing it in '63 active and remembering it from the visit. Went to the night tour and it is super creepy.

Detective is the granddaughter, I was confused as in first episode I got it wrong too.

Loving the show. Love Garcia as de soto. Love the girl, she was on sons of anarchy. And sam one ill is awesome as this guy not to be trusted completely so far. Goodbye nice guy image! Totally want to see him encounter a dinosaur though. :)
