American Idol
Dear AI producers and contestants,
Please stop trying to emotionally manipulate me. It's annoying. I know it's mostly the producers and the contestants will do anything to get to Hollywood, so they go along with it.
But in 8 season, I've seen exactly one story that was honest to god worthy of tears. A'siah Epperson is the only person worthy of the sob story. Period. She was the one who traveled to wherever (Atlanta? Charleston?) and found out when she arrived that her dad had died. She was raw when she sang and she sang a song that really did convey her emotions and was appropriate. A'siah gets the story. Stop with anyone else that's not that sad! People's lives stink! Hardship happens! We get this!

Do what I do: Mute/fast-forward/have a screaming toddler during the commentary, and only pay attention to the actual singing.

I mute during the bad ones. I guess the bad part for me is that I like Carrie Underwood type stories that aren't sob stories, so I keep holding out hope that *this* story will be a non-sob story. This season isn't giving us many of those.
