Dad and I (with mom as witness) are going to pow wow some night this week. I'm at decision time on my living situation without employment. I've lived in my apartment complex for going on 8 1/2 years, but my current bills and unemployment checks do not balance out to something that's doable.
I had already asked my grandmother if I could move into her basement (fully finished, very nice) should push come to shove. I had plans of going to see her this week to double check that it would be okay because the end of this month is it as far as money.
I had the sense to call my dad first (ostensibly to talk about what size rental truck I needed to get, but mostly so I could let him know in a passive, roundabout way that I was going to be talking to Gran). Dad wants to pay my rent for a couple of months instead of me moving, then reevaluate based on where I might be in a job situation. I understand where he's coming from (because moving is a pain in the butt, and what we're looking at is moving me twice in a few months of each other), but I'm looking at it from a different perspective. So we need to talk things out, look at the financial side and what's best in the long-term, and go from there. (This is keeping in mind that I'd be paying dad back the money for the rent at a later time. Two months' rent equals $1158.)
