Reason number eleventy that I hate kickball:
When they insist on baseball rules then whine when someone outsmarts them using baseball rules.
Meaning, the team that was beating us 19-1 complained that we intentionally walked their best player. Other teams, not knowing why the guy complained, chimed in that intentional walks are bad and shouldn't be done. Maybe a penalty! You know, there are no penalties in baseball. They were freaking arguing bunt lines in the organizational meeting and now, suddenly, intentional walks are bad? The fact is, we walked the guy to prevent losing 23-1. Second and third had people on. First was open. The person at bat next was their weakest runner/kicker. Not our fault that they lined up that way. Also not our fault that we chose to end the game, as it was the last out. Seriously. They got mad that we didn't let them get three more runs to end the game.
At least another team (the ones we practiced against) emailed me to tell me it would be okay, that there are rule arguments at the beginning of every season and that the other team shouldn't have run up the score like that. Even if we sucked hardcore. And that walks are no big deal in that situation.
