Jason Statham + NASCAR
I am a kind, kind person. For I am sharing with you all the news that there is a very, very important movie that must be seen. When it comes out, it'll be a "must see", a "can't miss".
Quite frankly, it'll be the bestworst movie you've ever seen and really, who wants to miss out on that?
I'm talking about Death Race.
Watch the trailer here and squeal with glee.
Jason Statham
Joan Allen
Ian McShane
Tyrese Gibson
Did I mention that Jason Statham plays a former NASCAR driver? (
zeplum, breathe hon. I know. It's like all our dreams that we didn't know we could dream come true. *g*)
(This movie's plot is completely revealed in the trailer. Who cares, though? Because Jason Statham and Tyrese and Joan Allen and NASCAR, all in one spot. That right there means plot is not even needed.)
X-Files Movie
I watched every episode of that show. Saw every season. Every second, in fact. And I knew the mythology until the end and had no problems with it (I never got confused - no, really). I've since given over that portion of my brain to NASCAR factoids, but really, if you could keep track of the mythology after season five, you were doing good.
I still have next to no clue what happened in the movie. *g*
Mulder and Scully and their interaction was faboo.Brent Spiner Billy Connelly was awesome. That one moment that everyone who's seen it knows about? Awesome.
But man, that plot was a mess. I had a sub-story I'd have cut out, then I'd have kicked Chris Carter into amping up the energy some (because the thing was seriously freaking slow). I'd have recast the other two FBI agents (because I had the feeling we were supposed to think Amanda Peet had some chemistry or something with Mulder, and Xzibit was supposed to have something to do other than glower). Okay, I'd have kept the rest of the cast the same, but yeah. Those two would have added something to the pacing. (And I'll say now, I'd recast with Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion. Because Gina can portray the kind of spark and inner strength that was needed for...moments. And Fillion knows how to glower properly and look forboding without being wallpaper.)
All in all, not the movie I was expecting for the plot. The relationship side (how they all interacted with one another) worked for me, but not the plot.
