In addition to here, I have a sports blog on Foxsports.com. Through there I've met a few people that prove that fandoms - whether for TV or sports - are pretty much the same. Awesome folks all around.
One of them had something shocking happen to him last week. His wife's cousin had taken a picture of his son and noticed something odd in the photograph - a white flare on one of his eyes (as opposed to red eye). She happened to know that it was a possible sign of Retinoblastoma. They took him to a doctor and it turns out it is retinoblastoma...a rare form of eye cancer that affects about 350 people a year. Many of you may be familiar with it because of the pro basketball player (Derek Fisher) who missed some games to be with his 10-month-old daughter who'd been diagnosed with the disease.
You can check out Black Flag's story here on what his son is going through.
More importantly, just be aware of the disease and that tricky little way of detecting it. It's rare that something so simple and so odd can let you know that there's a problem.
