The LJ Drama
So all the LiveJournal stuff with the deleting the journals for ishy interests? Eh. Doesn't bother me. Mainly because I can see why and can see why they're being overreactive.
Because first, there *are* some scary ass peeps out there that go beyond fandom interests in listed interests that are illegal activities. LJ is covering its butt as is its right. And on the plus side, if you have "incest" listed as an interest based upon Simon and River or Sam and Dean, then it saves you from getting friended by a creepy guy named Larry who's solely interested in it because he has a long-standing interest in his grandma.
And second, LJ is being overreactive because they're not pros who know how to identify this stuff and correctly differentiate between a story about two teens below the age of 18 having sex, literary discussion of Lolita and some whacko getting his rocks off by writing about a dirty old woman jonesing for a 12 year old boy (and no, I'm not talking Harry Potter fic). If they're not law enforcement, lawyers or psychologists, they kind of don't know where the line is.
Yeah, we have freedom of speech, but they have the freedom to shut our asses up if they're afraid of getting sued. Is it necessarily right? Nope. Do I think they'll go any further than this? Nope. Do I have any aims to go elsewhere and start a new blog or delete all my interests out of fear? Nope. Fact is, if someone really wants to delete my journal because they find the NASCAR slash to be highly scary, then it's gone beyond mere reactionary covering of butt to a completely different landscape that would mean me leaving LJ anyway. After suing their butts for stupidity.

Signs of Music Oldness
Dude, I just used a gift certificate to buy music and realized...I've reached that stage. You know the one - that moment when your music collection leans more and more toward "Greatist Hits" collections.
Just bought (courtesy of
sullivanlane, Monkey and Mini Monkey):
1. The Best of The Police
2. Essential Willie Nelson
3. "Hearts in Armor" - Trisha Yearwood (her second album, just to date myself)
4. "Songbird" - Eva Cassidy
5. "See the Light" - The Jeff Healy Band

Now back to assembling 16 binders full of crap for a presentation tomorrow.
