A question.

How does one tell a guy nicely, thanks for the flowers, but I'm not interested in dating you?

This is why I don't date. Geek girl tendencies mean not understanding how to play the "game". Oddly enough, I get that some folks are capable of playing "I think of you as just a friend" card successfully with no ill will, and I'd really like to play that card well, but...

I'm a geek girl.

*sigh* And I'm being overly dramatic and drama queeny about it (believe me, I've worn out the mantra on my parents and [livejournal.com profile] bubblesbrnaid - my mom told me to be glad I got flowers from a guy, that it's sweet). But he's a nice guy that I don't want to hurt. I've been on the flip side before and get annoyed by a lack of honesty from guys. So I know I have to be up front and honest. But argh! And I don't want to fall back on the excuses (that are valid) that 1) he's going through a divorce and 2) he smokes.

Daytona 500 Predictions

From here on out, I'm making my predictions for each race. Just to see how off I am. *g*

For the win: Tony Stewart

Stewart won the Shootout and one of the Duels. He hasn't been in the spotlight this Speedweeks (he can thank Evernham Motorsports, Michael Waltrip, Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth for that). A Smoke that's getting little to no media pressure combined with a good couple of weeks will mean he'll be nigh on unbeatable.

That is, if he can stay out of the wrecks. Everything is contingent upon who doesn't get caught up in someone else's mess, or if they can recover from it.

Dark horse: A Ganassi car.

It's Daytona and Reed drives the Target car, so it's safe to say he's not the Ganassi car to watch. I'll take David Stremme (who proved in the second Duels that he had a wicked fast car, plus he's proven in the past he has guts and can stand the pressure) or Juan Pablo Montoya (for blind luck).

Cause of the first caution: Robby Gordon

It's Daytona. Restrictor plate racing. It brings out the reckless in anyone. But the king of reckless (which pays dividends in road course - not so much when bunched in packs) is Robby. He'll be the cause of the first caution when getting too racy around David Ragan or Kyle Petty.
