America's Next Top Model

Guess what show I will no longer be watching? *points above* ANTM. Because I have a SEVERE problem with people who condone racism because it gets them ratings. Or anyone using the excuse "she should have shrugged it off" to dismiss a model when she breaks down because a male model tells her he doesn't like black people. (Want to dismiss her because she sucks as a model? Okay. That's valid. Girl sucked. Most of the girls have sucked. But do NOT dismiss her because she wasn't Strong Black Woman Like Tyra, who would have worked through the racism with style and grace or some such crap, when we all know that Tyra would have had his ass fired.)

Anyway.

I'm done with that show. It's not been about modeling for a few seasons now anyway. This just made it abundantly clear that it wasn't worth watching.

I did, however, go off on the CW about ANTM. I flat out let them know that Jericho gets me as a viewer, that their advertisers should be upset at the loss of ad dollars, and that as a network they should be ashamed by what was aired in pursuit of ratings.

Dale Jr.

From the Miami Herald:

Among the many reasons, here's some excerpts from an article that show why I adore Junior and can't stand Senior.

"There are a lot of things in life that are important to me, and winning championships would be the biggest thing I could do in my career. But when it comes down to just being happy and enjoying myself and enjoying my life and being able to live until I'm very old, that doesn't really mix into the grand scheme," Earnhardt Jr. said.

"A championship would give Dale a lot of clarity because we didn't get to continue our relationship with our dad and our relationship was changing," (Kelley Earnhardt) Elledge said. "It would be a sigh of relief."

Though they spend more time conversing about their personal lives than his racing, Elledge believes Earnhardt's reluctance to talk publicly about how much a championship consumes him is reflective of his personality.

"After he accomplishes something, he is a lot more vocal. He underestimates his ability to do it. He always feels a burden to measure up to other successful race car drivers and our dad. It's a constant worry, the thought of 'Hey, am I going to be able to do this?'"

Earnhardt also credits his new-found maturity to his sister, who helps lessen the daily strain on him by running his company and is his confidant. Their bond strengthened when a fire razed their mother's home in 1981 and they moved in with Dale Earnhardt Sr., and found themselves mostly under the care of nannies.

When Earnhardt Jr. was sent to military school as a teenager, Kelley insisted on enrolling at the school.

"It was always back to he and I," Elledge said. "I was always the stronger, more confident one. I mothered him. I still tell him I may not agree with him but at the end of the day I'm going to support him. My job is to see him be successful."
