NaNoWriMo may have gone up in smoke (no pun intended) before I really got started.
Chem Lab Fire Destroys NC High School
Here's the deal - I have a degree in public relations. I got my job at an advertising agency with the notion that I'd move up into PR at some point. We quickly discovered that I hated PR. Yeah, the fun. But some PR things were right up my alley that others hated - mainly, media monitoring.
Basically, I get to spend the day (part of it) looking online for articles about three specific clients. One of those clients is the local school system.
And in the local school system, the high school burns down in a huge chem lab fire that started during school hours.
The story has gone international. I have to create a PDF, printed copy and typed report of all the articles. As of 30 minutes ago we were looking at 100+ articles (because the AP story went national). Australia, Canada, Forbes, USA Today, Washington Post...they're all showing the story. I have to find them all.
So basically, I'll be spending the next few days buried in work. WHEE. *dies*
(But if you happen to see that story on your local website, feel free to leave a link in the comments below. *g* Cause it's helpful and I would love you muchly.)
