What the...?

Okay, so for once I opt out of an employee luncheon where way too many people crowd around a table at a restaurant and take way too long to eat decent food and there's talking but I can't hear anything and I speak to maybe three people the entire time...and everyone in the frickin office keeps asking why? (The lie is that I have to be cheap on food right now to afford a new radiator. Which hey, next payday, new radiator. But honestly, it's not anyone's business! I kind of just wasn't in the mood. For a week I've said I wouldn't be able to be there, and I laid the groundwork for not giving a reason, and now they all won't let it go!)

*headdesk* No one complains when my direct boss can't go to these luncheons. (One of us has to cover the phones.) But either I'm "one of the group" (my ass) or I'm the...okay, I have no clue why they're on this "Why didn't Heather go" bent.

Also, I just want to go home, curl up with a book, and clean the apartment. In any order (although going home comes before cleaning the apartment).

Again I pimp...

"Satisfied" by Ashley Monroe

She has a haunting wail that's eerie coming from someone so young. This is exactly the kind of country song I adore - old and rusty and haunted. And it opens with wind chimes and wind.

I want him but he don't want me.
He wants somebody else that I can't be.
And she's got a man that she wants to leave,
'Cause he can't seem to make her happy.
Does it have to be wrong to make it feel right?

Tell me why ain't nobody satisfied?

Old man lookin' at a photograph,
Of a love that's long gone from his past.
And his wife's got a letter that she can't read,
From a boy who never came back from the sea.
All these secrets or lies we keep deep inside
Does it have to be wrong to make it feel right?

Tell me why ain't nobody satisfied, yeah?

See that man walkin' down the street,
Yeah, what are the odds he's the one for me?
An' what if I pass him by an' he's got the love I need?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Tell me why there ain't nobody satisfied?

I want him but he don't want me.
He wants somebody else that I can't be.
And she's got a man that she wants to leave,
'Cause he can't seem to make her happy.
See that man walkin' down the street,
Yeah, what are the odds, he's the one for me?
An' what if I pass him by an' he's got the love I need?

Oh god. The funny. Okay, the whole NASCAR/NBC thing just took a turn for the hysterical.

Apparently the guys at Dateline were going to send their plants to the next NASCAR race this weekend, except they started making plans to send them to Richmond. There were surprised to note that the race was, in fact, in Texas. *snicker* I'm sorry, but this gave me the giggles.
