American Idol
1. Mandisa - I love the control (well, mostly control, there were some bum notes), the classy/sexy/sultry/hot look, really love the hair. Overall my favorite performance of the night!
2. Bucky - That was NOT a good performance. I fear for him tonight, even though I couldn't vote for him in good conscience. I just want Kevin to go first.
3. Paris - I loved that song on her, although something a bit more risky would be nice. I don't see much risk out of her. The bluesy/jazzy songs are definitely her genre, but she's missing some spark needed to really rock the competition.
4. Chris - Okay, I love him now. As long as that was his arrangement, I knew I'd gain respect for him. *nods* It wasn't the best vocals, but sometimes there's a way of transcending vocals - by going for a complete experience and being different. ETA: Grumble. Snarl. Annoyance. Seems Chris's "original" take on the song isn't so original as it's the exact cover done by Live. He's now moved back to the category of "show me something worthy of the 'he's oh so stupendous' praise and I'll cheer you on, but for now, you're just a guy who likes rock".
5. Katharine - Impeccable vocals, but there's something to "theater" about her personality. You know that one "theater" person that has the "theater" personality where they schmooze a lot and are just bubbly and excited and so very showy, and yet when you walk away, most of the time that king of personality disappears and they're either very quiet or downright bitchy? Katharine strikes me as the very quiet "theater" variety. Like the big personality is an act because she's supposed to schmooze.
6. Taylor - It was okay. I like watching him, even when the vocals aren't spot on. But he can't dance.
7. Lisa - Funny, for some reason just her and the piano was good, but as soon as a band was added, her voice wasn't as good. Why is it that the music kills her voice?
8. Kevin - Okay, that was pretty, but I refuse to vote for him. He needs to GO.
9. Elliott - Not his absolute best, but I love him! I love his voice and the facial hair was niiiiiice, and his eyes were sparkling and...okay, can I just have him as my own?
10. Kellie - Great song choice, although the singing was average. Let's kill the makeup artist, though. Gah! And make her stand still. (Side note: Are you kidding me? Barry Manilow doesn't know Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight"? I was born in 1977 to parents who hate country music and I've known the song since birth!)
11. Ace - Um...*snore* I'd say at least he's pretty, but someone showed video of him as a sophomore in high school on Entertainment TOnight or something, and boy has had a nose job.
