*growling*

I just got the opportunity to bodily remove someone from the building. I was polite and firm and informed him he needs to make an appointment to see people in the future, and I did manage to refrain from telling him to get the hell out of our offices...but he will also never get a meeting here. *eg*

See, he's a copier salesman. Showed up unannounced to see the person in charge of the copiers. Let it be known, he's a Xerox rep and we have Xerox copiers. What the hell? Anyway, I knew he wouldn't get to meet with her, so ran back to let her know, she said get rid of him, and as I'm heading back, I caught him around the corner in an area most definitely NOT for the public, looking at our copier. He booked fast when he heard me coming, so he didn't see that I saw, but lordy...

Last guys that did something like that? Tried to physically intimidate me in order to see the copier. Bitchy me put myself in between and didn't let them through.

*deep breaths*

Anyway.

Did get to buy clothing at lunch today for Wednesday, so I have a nice pretty brown shirt dress that's conservative yet stylish. And pretty jewelry. To go with my mile high brown heels.

Also, am eagerly anticipating having five minutes of time at some point in the next week to myself. At which point I hope to actually be in the mood to rewrite. Stories are almost done, yo!

Lordy.

Dear world: If you are watching the NASCAR Hall of Fame announcement, I apologize. It's politicians. They don't know how to make it exciting. *snores*

That and the part where my eyes are crossed and I'm data entering like a crazy fool. Yeah. That makes it exciting.

ETA: *boggles* Jeez Louise, could the Atlanta officials please be coached a little before being allowed to have a press conference? The griping is amazing. How does this endear them to NASCAR if they publically cry over it? I wouldn't have a problem with the disappointment, but the fact is, Daytona and Charlotte have a lot more history in the sport, and putting the Hall of Fame in one of those locations lends to a greater experience for the NASCAR fan. There's a lot to do in Atlanta, but NASCAR fans are heading to the Hall for an all-inclusive experience.

But the two quotes that got me worst?

1. Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce: "The cultural background won out over the growth and the future expansion of the sport here."

So cultural background should be ignored in favor of making the sport bigger in just Atlanta? Or if they were aiming to talk about the expansion and future of the sport in the big picture, I hate to tell them, but that's what putting a track in New York City and Washington State is all about - expansion.

2. "It is sad that they decided to marry the girl next door, but we had a lot to offer," Purdue (governor) said. "I thought we made a great business case. It could have been a great marriage."

Um, so marrying the girl next door is also bad? *bangs head on desk* Who lets these folks make these analogies?!?!? From a business standpoint, if you want to foster a good relationship with your fans and get them buying lots of NASCAR merchandise (NASCAR gets a portion of all sales for anything with the NASCAR name attached), you give them the most bang for their buck. Put a Hall in a place where they can experience a wide variety of NASCAR-related activities that NASCAR can benefit from. Charlotte has most of the race shops located around it, a race track, and now the Hall. From a business standpoint, with all that around there, the fans are more likely to spend more time there (more than one day, staying overnight), making the economy boom, being more willing to fly from various portions of the country...it's a better draw.

I guess it's the fact that, coming on the heels of Richmond and Kansas City's eliminations from the process, where KC got bitter and Richmond was okay, you'd think that the other cities would have taken note. And they did (to a degree). Daytona hasn't said anything, but since they're in France's pocket, they'll be gracious in defeat.
