"Best I Ever Had" by Gary Allan

I'm not crazy about the video, but the song? The first time I heard it I couldn't figure out why a country station was playing something sort of alternative sounding. There's a combination of the guitar, the cello, the melancholy tune, and his voice (which has a slight wailing quality and a growl that works for country and rock) that makes the song perfectly him. Honestly, I don't think he's ever had a better song. In my book this is certainly the most memorable.

"Long Ride Home" by Patty Griffin

The video threw me at first, because Orlando Bloom? But it's from Elizabethtown, so that explained that. The song is unusual and haunting, the kind of haunting I like.

"Mists of Down Below" by The Duhks

I think I've pimped this one before, but again, it's different. And the name of the band is essentially The Ducks. Gotta make you giggle with that one.

"Boondocks" by Little Big Town

I'm currently obsessed with this song just for the tag near the end. My personal opinion is that they don't need the girls in the group. The two guys have voices that work well together and are interesting by themselves - the girls add too much. But honestly, it's all about the redheaded guy and "You get a line, I'll get a pole. We'll go fishin at the crawfish hole." Plus for some reason, at that moment in the song...I swear he could be related to [livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger.

American Idol Update

Remember my mention of Mini Mullet Man from two days ago?

Yeah.

I saw him again.

I took a stroll past the Marriott at lunch. It wasn't raining at that moment. Why not? Get some exercise too! Well, as I'm passing the parking deck there (with only a limo sighting, oh well) out comes an SUV. With Mini Mullet Man driving. With a whole new cowboy hat on.

And the biggest grin known to man on his face.

Ho-ly crap.

So Mini Mullet Man either made it to Hollywood (it was one of those grins that'll last three days), or he won a bet with his buddies and will be reaping the rewards of making it on TV, where he can see himself being reamed by Simon.

Statler and Waldorf review the movies

*floves*

I watched the webisode where they review Deuce Bigalow and Dukes of Hazzard. It included the Swedish Chef giving fashion tips on how to make Daisy Dukes ("De schnippins and de Daisy Dukins..."), which was a scream.

But the funniest line?

"It's like NASCAR, but with attractive people!"

*giggle*

Could someone please explain to me why LJ just posted NASCAR slash to Bice Squad?
Watched the local 5:00 news while waiting for my sister to get off work, and Simon loves us!

Seems that there have been so many talented people here that Simon feels that Greensboro was totally worth it and will provide more than enough talent for the season. Rock on!

(And yes, he wore the black t-shirt.)
