Mainly for [livejournal.com profile] mei_x:

Done some research and here's where we're at. There are two starting cornerbacks. There are currently two "names" (meaning players I recognize because they get a lot of game time) in the cornerback positions: Ricky Manning Jr. and Chris Gamble. In the off-season a free agent cornerback was acquired, Ken Lucas. Ken Lucas is slated to get a starting spot. Gamble and Manning will be duking it out for the other starting spot. Gamble is probably going to get it, but Manning will be slotted over to another probable starting spot (he's a versatile player and has immense heart). I'm guessing this will mean second and third string spots. But the great thing about the Panthers is their depth. They always have a great depth and their second and third string players have played in the Super Bowl.

Here's hoping for second string with great opportunity for playing time.

ETA: Okay, and THEN I see an article about Ricky. *sigh* Not being that prolific in football terminology, I think he's been shunted back to second string, with indications that if Gamble or Lucas slack off, he could get first string. Anyway. That means *more* competition at cornerback.

I so need a Panthers icon.

The Power Rankings this week actually had me emailing Ryan Smithson to say 'thank you' for the hilarity.

Kyle Petty: Hey mom! I've led more laps this year than Dale Jr.! Yes, I am serious!

Michael Waltrip: So it's being reported that Mikey might come back to DEI after all. Maybe all he wanted was a million-dollar raise. After Mikey said he would be leaving, DEI officials found out it would actually cost 21 times that to re-shoot all those commercials.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: I guess you heard the chants of "Tony! Tony! Tony!" while Stewart was celebrating. Well, that wasn’t for Stewart. Those were actually Dale Jr. fans who demanded the return of Eury Jr.

Kevin Harvick: His Chase hopes are very much alive because he's got some good tracks coming up. But you have to wonder what his reaction will be if he gets punted on the final lap at Richmond to miss getting in by a point. (His reaction? Well, he'll most likely get suspended for beating the crap out of the idiot that does it. Which means Brian Vickers needs to work on his 100 yd. dash right now.)

Jeff Gordon: The Dukes of Hazzard will win an Oscar for Best Picture before Gordon makes the Chase. But you never know. We've had upsets at the Academy Awards before.

Greg Biffle: His Subway-sandwich-sitting-on-the-legs commercial appeared during Monday Night Football, weirding out an additional 20 million people. (Fire in his pants!)

Ryan Newman: He had the quote of the weekend: "[Jeff] Gordon is not a Hoosier. He's just not proud of being from San Francisco." (It's official - I don't hate Newman anymore. Anyone who points out that there's a need to NOT be from California if you're a NASCAR driver, because "real men" are from the South or Midwest, well, gotta give them the props.)

ETA: *amused* Smithson apparently is highly addicted to his email. Either that, or he quite likes being told he made my day and is willing to respond to the happy people.

Kurt Busch is leaving Roush racing. Kurt Busch is leaving Roush Racing definitely at the end of his contract (end of the 2006 season). He wants out for the 2006 season.

Damn it! That's the driver Richie Gilmore was hinting at. *kicks things* He's under 30 and a Cup champion. *cusses*

ETA: Holy hell. I sometimes forget the NASCAR fan mindset. When conversing with my sister via email about Kurt, she said that well, we'd just have to accept him if he came to DEI. Took me a minute to figure out why. It takes me a bit, because currently I'm a DEI girl because I love all the drivers at DEI. But Truex hasn't proven himself to me yet (he doesn't count as a DEI driver until he's full time Cup). So next year I won't be pro-Truex. And just because Busch might get the 15, that's not grounds for me loving him. I'll be Junior and that's it, thank you very much.

Ultimate Slayer Quiz )

I find the results of that one vastly amusing, considering I stopped watching religiously after season 5. And the last season? Missed most of it. And yet, 90%.

*is suspicious*

Either LiveJournal isn't giving me comments today, or Gmail is holding out. I can find the comments on my LJ, but they're not coming to me from my own journal. (Ones from other journals? Yes. Freaky.)

The conundrum of the week: Finally got a good Disk 1 of Season Two of Oz. And Disk 3 came. Disk 2 is at home. So, do I go home and jump into an Oz marathon? Or do I go home and really get into the book I bought today by an author I like? Or do I watch a movie I've had sitting there for two weeks that needs to go back to Netflix? Or do I go to the bookstore and buy the OTHER book I've been dying to get and eagerly anticipating for a month, but which Barnes and Noble didn't put on sale today?

Choices, choices.

[livejournal.com profile] bubblesbrnaid, do you want to do Saturday night as BSG season two night? Or Friday night? (I'm highly suspicious that something may be going on in my family one of those nights. One of those niggling things in the back of the head. But for the life of me I can't remember what. *reminds self to call mom and ask*) Oh wait. Can't do Friday night because it'll be taping. Duh. (And I'm anal and want to keep season two in order on the tape. So sue me.) BSG and pizza? How's that sound?
