There are some kinds of things with work that piss me off. I get that when there's an office function that it's something people need to go to. Inevitably some folks have things planned. When we plan something for a month out, and then it turns out people will be out of town, that's how it is. It's ALWAYS how it is.

Boss lady is planning an event for August 19th at the ball park. I'd kind of like to go based on the fact that the ball park is new and apparently really nice. It would be kind of fun, even though I hate baseball (that doesn't include Randy Johnson - I'll watch Randy Johnson). I've done this the past two times we've planned them. I help plan these events in some capacity.

Folks complain, though. Which is stupid. Either you can show up or you can't, don't bitch, right? Well, sadly it turns out that the guy who recommended the date for the game had a client dinner come up, which means three of them can't come. So boss lady wants to know if Saturday or Sunday works for anyone in the office. It's nice to look and find out, because we want the most employees there at once.

I was asking one boss, and he and I had talked about the complaining before. When I mentioned that unfortunately I can't do Saturday or Sunday, because I don't live in town (60 miles round trip) and have to work on Saturday, I got bitched at because I should go to company functions. First off, a day off is a day off. I'm not owned by the company. Secondly, I've never missed a company function before except twice, once because I was riding with my sister after work, and the other because I had a final for school that night. Some folks don't go because they just don't want to. Thirdly, not that he bothered to ask, but because of sales going on at mom's store, I'll have worked 13 straight days at that point. I'm a wuss at the end of five. Wanna see me and my cranky ass driving at night after that schedule? I think not. Lastly, for some reason that I'd seriously like an explanation for, every job I've ever had, while I'm the one that makes it to the most things (short of the boss - the boss is always there more), I'm the one that gets bitched at. I swear, it's a condition. In high school they had staff meetings at 11 on a school night. I'd ask someone at school the next day for details and actually do everything right (and get praised for that later), but I'd get bitched at because my mother strictly refused to let a 16 year old be out that late on a school night. Same with other jobs. *is grouchy*

Fear the great and powerful Oz. Or the great and powerful Helton.

Seriously, someone rip the psychotic NASCAR/Wizard of Oz out of my hands before I drop a car on Jeff Gor-Don. Or put Kasey Kahne in a blue checked pinafore. (Or make Elliot Sadler the Cowardly Lion. Damn! This stuff just keeps going.)

The icon makes it even worse.
