God I hate when they do this.
We're having Grammar Wars. More precisely, Punctuation Wars. They're using dashes incorrectly when it should in fact be parenthesis and a comma. I'm supposed to proof it for a reason. Are they going to ignore me? Probably. Because "it's not worth it."
Yeah. So I'll just never proof anything ever again. *is pissed*
Seriously, this is one that is glaringly obvious. They overuse dashes as it is. I get why they want the dash there, but considering what comes after the dash...it's not a part of the intial thought that was interrupted. Therefore, they need to put it in parentheses.
(There's a series of three thoughts: blank, blank and blank. They way they're writing this, they have it blank - free for everyone - blank and blank. Except the first blank and the second blank aren't the same thought and require a comma between them.)
*growls*
The problem with the Wars is that there's the "but this is the way people talk" or "this is a stylistic choice" train of thought that our creative department has, and then there's me, who gives them that most of the time but refuses to accept some things "just because it's thiiiiis close to being done".
It's not like it's that big of a deal, either! It'll take at most 10 minutes to change. (And the art directors are NOT busy.)
