Today is a staff meeting. I should amend that: it's a Staff Meeting. The kind that requires capitalization, because it's not a normal staff meeting but one that involves much importance (meaning restructuring).
There was a company audit a month or so ago. The whole purpose of the audit was to see where we operate inefficiently and how to create more billable hours. (Primarily, this would be convincing the creative director that spending 14 hours on a job that we can only bill for 10 is not worth it.)
One of the head partners stopped me this morning to give me a heads up about the restructuring. Giving me a heads up, though, does not bode well. Sure enough, the heads up was because I will be taking on new business responsibilities, and they didn't want me surprised. Fair enough. Seems they haven't worked out the details on that one yet and plan on me, the new business guy, and the partner, sitting down and hammering out the details of what I'll be doing.
The big thing is, because new business involves phone calls (seriously, no one knows how much I'm ready to cry right now over the phone call portion), that means putting the phones onto a system mode for a designated portion of time each day. My whole security of knowing I won't be required to make cold calls to perfect strangers and sell them crap...that just went out the window.
I'm not a salesperson. This could be ugly.
On the other hand, it may be the impetus to get me to a new job. *tries not to cry*
And I want to know, if I'm getting *another* title (I currently have two), does that mean more money?
