Salvation Army Angels
Every year our office adopts 4 kids from the Salvation Army for Christmas. We settled on four because we could spoil the kids rotten, yet not overload them with too much stuff (ask about the year we had one kid...just ask about the literal mountain of presents).
Well, we got our kids late this year (there's apparently some issue with Salvation Army remembering to send us our kids), so we only had a week and a half to buy things. I was worried, a little, but all of the kids got a nice amount of stuff. We had an 11 year old boy that wanted art supplies, so one group of employees got him, just because it was four people who are all artists. They spoiled him rotten.
One of my coworker's sister works for...let's just say, she works for a big, big, big company that has lots of kid products. They were on the phone yesterday discussing the kid thing, and, well...we just got a big ole box. Of stuff. For our kids. Free products. *squees*
Sadly there wasn't much for the 11 year old. He got a skateboard out of the deal though, to go along with his art supplies (his very nice art supplies). Our other boy is swimming in action figures now. LOL Action figures and cool sets of boy stuff. (Being NOT a boy, most of it baffled me.) The two little girls each got a princess dress, gloves, jewelry, stuffed animals, dolls. All of that on top of the stuff we'd already bought for them.
Honestly, this is the best part of Christmas to me. That's not me saying trite things. Really, the only way it could be better is if I could see the kids opening the gifts.
