So far my day has been spent being highly annoyed. The people calling our office today are of the completely brainless variety, plus are pushing every last nerve.
I think I need another Coke.
One thing of the good from this past weekend was going to see The Village. I know a lot of you on the friends' list hated it, but I loved it. I'll do a long post at lunchtime detailing why, but I have to say, I've consistently liked M. Knight's movies.
Here's my thing about M. Knight. I had to be talked into The Sixth Sense. I HATED Bruce Willis. You do not understand how much I hated him. It was only months after the movie was out on DVD and VHS that my best friend convinced me. The fun part for me (that I messed up on when viewing Unbreakable) is that I just sat back and enjoyed...and managed to figure it out 10 minutes before the big reveal. I literally sat up on the couch and shouted out "Oh my god! He's...." Well, won't say just in case there's someone on the planet who doesn't know or hasn't seen it. *G*
Going in to Unbreakable, I sat there the entire time overanalyzing and trying to figure out the end. Stupid me. I'm much better if I just sit back and enjoy, because I figure it out quicker. Still, I loved Unbreakable. Funny thing is, I've heard a *lot* of people say they loved it. I don't know where the "it sucked, everyone says so" line came from, because almost every time I talk to someone who's seen it...9 out of 10 say they loved it.
I have never seen Signs though, but my impression from others has been that it was the most commercial of his movies, which I find to be a problem. Making a movie commercial tends to make it an inferior product when all previous works have been about something else, not commercial value.
But The Village seemed to go back to the vein of Unbreakable, but with an unusual twist - it wasn't as clearly defined.
Anyway, later for The Village. I loved it. I love M. Knight. I've also found an odd thing about myself recently...I love Alfred Hitchcock movies, but not necessarily the ones people think I *should* like. Psycho is supposedly better than The Birds, but I really enjoyed The Birds over Psycho. I can also see some clear comparisons between M. Night and Alfred. You can see the influence.
Ack! Stop talking! *G*
