I'd like to take this time to tell you about something special. Those across the country in the NASCAR community know about it. Those people in central North Carolina know about it.
But maybe not those that most need to know about it.
The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a member of the Hole In The Wall camps. This camp is run by Kyle and Patti Petty of the famous Petty family. While I personally have issues with the Petty family (long story), Kyle is the exception to his family's rule. He is a kind, generous, hard working man who truly desires to help.
This camp's primary service area is South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. They do accept a limited number of national campers. The camp is located in Randleman, NC (which is ten minutes down the road from where I live) and has opened this week.
This summer they have one week camps for specific groups.
Groups We'll Serve Summer 2004: Session #1: Hemophilia/Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (June 20th-25th)
Session #2: Sickle Cell (June 27th-July 2nd)

I urge everyone to check out the website. It's very informative and a wonderful organization.
About the FoundersOne thing about Kyle and Patti that lets you know their dedication to this is the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. Every year, as a fundraiser, he gets on his Harley and takes off (along with hundreds of bikers) across the US to raise money for children's charities. He has been doing this since 1994.
The Victory Junction Gang Camp is in memory of their son, Adam Petty, who died in May of 2000 when his car crashed during a practice session. He was the first professional fourth generation athlete to compete in any sport in the U.S. More than that though, he was the love of his parents' life.
