*grumble grumble*
I have to learn to stop being creative. Stop being creative and actually slack off and be normal.
For one of my classes (Selected Topics in Criminal Justice) we do presentations every other week. A general topic is assigned. We're a bit behind, so we're only on the second topic (snow days plus extra library days are to blame). The first one was World Criminal Justice Systems. To be different, I chose Cuba. This is how my mind works. Everyone else does Australia or Canada or Mexico. Democracies, or you know, really close to democracies. Me, I go for dictatorships and communism, because it's different. And we all need an education.
So this time the topic is International Crime.
What do I choose? Not drugs (the obvious one). I choose Child Pornography Rings. Because it's relevant and topical and thought-provoking. I didn't think of one thing. It's also disturbing as hell and not pleasant to research. I thank god that I found informative sites from the government and international child advocacy sites, because if I'd stumbled across anything of the visual kind at any point I might have had to toss my cookies.
It's still disturbing though, even on a factual, intellectual level. I think next time I'm going to pay close attention to what topic I choose. Go with something non-scarring.
