I'm thinking of telling everyone my name is Lorelai today, because damn if I'm not rocking the Gilmore. Sparkly red heart diddlyboppers folks. I'm Teh Cute.
My philosophy on gifts, which was enacted in November as an official gift buying strategy (for me, because my family doesn't quite understand how to buy me gifts): if it is bright, colorful, sparkles or is furry, I will like it.
This is why, when I went to the mall last night to buy Jennifer Cruise's new book and discovered that the only frickin' bookstore had shut down (we're getting a B&N type place in March, but I'm still pissed), I consoled myself by going to Rainbow for a little therapeutic shopping.
Which is why I now own the pinkest jacket that ever pinked.
Dude. $12.99 for this shiny, plasticy, retro-80s bright ass pink jacket that *rocks*. And a short black dress that's very rocker (strapless, handkerchief hem), as well as a black t-shirt and this great light pink top that is very flattering.
And because these very cool items needed jewelry, I went to another store and got a kick ass bright ass pink bracelet that matches the jacket, a great silver necklace for the dress with matching earrings, and these really funky curved silver earrings.
Then I needed music to complete my attitude-laden evening, so I got Pink's latest, Kid Rock (because I have been meaning to add Bawitaba to my collection) and Celia Cruz (because she's totally a salsa Gilmore). And happened to run across the first Superman movie on VHS, the collectors edition (I still don't have a DVD player) with the screen tests at the end.
Folks, can I just say that I'm back to it's all the writing's fault in regards to the Superman movies. Chris Reeve is obviously perfection as Clark Kent/Superman (and in one of those screen tests I nearly had a heart attack, because I swear that was Tommy in appearance). What I find really interesting is the Lois Lane screen tests. There were amazing actresses, but they all *stunk* at Lois. They all played her too enamored and dumb. Only two - two! - played Lois as being driven and focused while crushing on Superman. Stockard Channing and Margot Kidder. Seriously, it was easy to see that Margot and Stockard were the only choices. And upon viewing the movie again, I have to say that the acting is top notch, it's the writer's characterization that bugs me.
