The Cubs. *sob* First off, don't anybody go blaming the guy who almost caught the ball in the stands. The ball really was in the stands, and I don't think he ever saw Alou. Plus there were several other guys trying to grab it too. And he didn't even get the ball!

And really, that one ball doesn't make up for the eight frickin' runs the Marlins then got in one inning. *head in hands* I couldn't begrudge the Marlins the win. They outplayed the Cubs. If they win this and go to the World Series, I'll cheer for the Marlins cause they beat the Cubs. It would be hard fought and hard won.

Folks, it's designer duds at very reduced prices. That's one reason to go there. But the other reason you should go to that site today? Because you can register to win a pair of Manolo Blahniks. *swoon* They're giving away a pair a day for 42 days. And the big prize is a closet FULL of MBs. Hee. And any shoe that has the same initials as the Magnificent Bastard is just *divine*.
So lunch. Good. Lunch was of the good. Very much so. *drool*

New place opened up a couple of doors down. Yeah, they have desserts, but on their menu was a sandwich that had me excited: grilled cheese with tomato (and [livejournal.com profile] sullivanlane shudders). It was pretty good. I've hit my tomato loving stage where I realize that home grown summer tomatos are much better than any other kind. That hampered my sandwich love. But the slaw was great too. So now I'm blissfully full.

The heat is malfunctioning in our office. Gah. It's in the 60s outside and literally in the 80s in here. I'm dressed for much cooler. Heat stroke is imminent. Water! *gasp* I need water! *swoon*

Please ignore the melodramatic southern chick.

Speaking of melodrama and southerners, due to the Yankees/Red Sox game being cancelled Sunday night, I finally had the pleasure of seeing part of Varsity Blues.

I would like to make a disclaimer regarding that movie:

I live in an area that is far more obsessive than them about high school football. I live in an area that is southern. At no point have I *ever* seen or heard intimated that there in fact exists stupidity on the scale of that movie. *groans* And please, do not hold the stupid, abysmal accents those not-southerners used against us. We do not sound like that. At all. Want proof? I'll give you my phone number. You can call me. I'll prove that southerners do not sound like Andy Griffith on crack (although I do have some relatives who do sound like Andy Griffith, just not on crack).

Oh, and not every southern male owns a belt buckle the size of Texas. Just so you know.

You know, the Kobe Bryant case is baffling me. At this point, I know who I believe. And I know exactly why I believe them. From the beginning I've been interested in hearing the details, because the facts of the case will many times tell the story when the involved parties have differing stories. And behavior can tell you a lot too.

So today's "latest development" from the defense that there is biological evidence of another party on the victim's underwear...uh-huh. I definitely want to know how this plays out, because *past* behavior by the defense and Kobe makes me not want to believe them.

Now, I am definitely skeptical of motives on the part of both parties. It's not like there haven't been sports groupies who've used consentual sex to try and get something out of the pro athlete they slept with. This is not a new game. And it's not like pro athletes crossing the line because they feel more entitled than "normal" people is something new either. Granted, Kobe has a pristine record, but he was also a kid thrown into a very adult environment where rules were thrown out the window. Some of it is going to rub off sooner or later (you just hope and pray that it's something small).

I had more I was going to write on it, but eh. Not feeling the rant today.
