So I had a thought this morning that I decided to post to people at large. Get your feedback on it, see if it makes sense to anyone else.
If Lana's parents *hadn't* been squished by the meteor, would Lana have been any different? And this is taking into account that that would be the only thing different in the Smallville universe.
Think about it. Lana could still happen upon the picture of her mother with Henry Small at some point. Poor wittle Lana could still whine about abandonment because Daddy dearest isn't participating in her life. And what are the possibilities that Laura Lang might have felt guilt because she knew Lana's dad wasn't her biological father? Would there have been compensation? Attempts to make up for something Lana doesn't know about? Pampering as a means of assuaging her guilt?
Could Lana have been more whiney than she is now?
And overall, what if it's about inherited character traits...biology? What if Lana is who she is because of the personalities of her parents and traits that were inherent to her genetic code? Studies have shown that children who are adopted whose biological parents were criminals are more likely to commit crimes than children who were adopted whose biological parents *weren't* criminals. Even with a great adoptive environment. So if biology is key to personality, what's to say Lana would be any different if her parents were around and acted like parents?
See what happens when I'm depressed and bored? You get Lana musing!
