Friday Five

1. What was the first band you saw in concert?

The Temptations. It was at the Balloon Festival in Salisbury, NC. Hey, it was free and made me fall in love with the Temps.

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?

For most artists it would be almost impossible to choose, but I do have one person that rises above everyone and makes me just happy all the time: Martina McBride.

3. What's your favorite song?

Now that is hard. I have many in many different genres, for many different moods. Just to name a few though:

"Ojos Asi" by Shakira
"There You Are" by Martina McBride
"I Will Love You" by Fisher
"When Doves Cry" by Prince

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?

Okay, well, I can play the piano. Ten years of lessons says I can. And I hate playing the piano unless it's the Jurassic Park theme or any song from The Phantom of the Opera.

I also played drums in band. Did the marching band thing. I have impeccable rhythm if nothing else.

But I pretty much didn't like either of those (the latter because I never got to play on the cool songs, just the dopey ones because I wasn't taking private lessons).

I have always wished though that I could play the violin and/or the fiddle. I love the sound that comes out of the instrument. Haunting and beautiful and raucous.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?

Prince. Just because he's always marched to the beat of his own drummer. And he writes amazing music too. He's unique and absolutely true to himself.
