Back from the birthday weekend. *sigh* Being an adult sucks. But there were highlights.
Decided on Friday that it would be a grand idea to rent movies for the weekend. With plenty of time, it might be fun to catch up on things I haven't seen. So Friday night was spent watching Kissing Jessica Stein. Folks, I love this movie. First off, Max from Gilmore Girls is in it, and I do not loathe him in this role (granted, he isn't keeping Luke and Lorelai apart, so I have no *reason* to hate him). But overall, it's a smartly written, cute, fun, uplifting movie. Although watching a very straight woman dating a gay woman is funny. I know, that looks confusing. But watch the movie, you'll understand. Plus there's the whole fact that it ends right and is *still* happy.

So, finished the movie and remembered that, *d'oh!* my alarm clock had died that morning, so I needed to go to Wal-Mart and get another one. So, wearing jeans, my "Innocent" t-shirt (red with a picture of an angel with horns), and absolutely no make-up at all...I went to Wal-Mart at 9:15 on a Friday night. Yep, sad.
And proceeded to get hit on by teenage boys. *snerk* Standing not a yard away, they holler at me "Hey baby, how's it going." Twice. Seeing as my ignoring them the first time wasn't indication enough.
I'm 26 years old. And I was hit on by boys that are most likely illegal.

Work on Saturday yielded Mississippi Mud Cake as they didn't know what else to make me food-wise. My sister suggested the cake. Problem is, if I eat a full piece of the cake, I get a migrane. Damn chocolate allergy. So there I am, with a huge cake, and I can't get anyone else to eat much of it. I spent the entire weekend trying to foist cake off on people. Which was funny, considering my mom baked me the exact same cake for Sunday lunch.

When I went home on Saturday night, I decided in a genius moment that since I was turning 26, I would try out the grand idea of getting drunk. Never been drunk before, and personally I don't see the appeal, as I hate being out of control, but since I could sleep in a bit the next day, I thought it was an idea.
So I bought a bottle of vodka, thinking hard liquor would get me drunk faster than anything, seeing as a Mudslide or a Margarita will get me tipsy in two seconds flat.
Shot after shot of the stuff, and nothing. No affect at all. Clear headed, no muzzy feeling. No giddiness. Good old sobriety.
Fooey.
But I did watch half of Superman II, before turning it off because they were trying to destroy my illusions about Superman and Clark Kent. I did learn a few things from rewatching it. While I hate what writers try to do in forcing me to see the whole "Superman IS who he is, and Clark Kent is a complete and utter disguise", I still love Chris Reeve's characterization. My god, he was so subtle with his acting in the role. I can really appreciate it now, even if I hate what they tried to accomplish. And I can also say that Margot Kidder was completely miscast. The role actually wasn't as simpering as I remembered. Lois was written a bit more independent and worldly. It was just that Margot sucked ass.

Sunday I did lunch with the family and got even more clothes. For some reason, now that I'm all an adult and everything, they're trying to get me to dress all adult-like. Bah. Conservative was thrown by the wayside long ago.
Had cake, watched NASCAR, screamed like a loon cause Baby won, did taxes with my sister and screamed like a loon cause with the Hope credit I'm getting back money. Yay!
Went to my best friend's house and had dinner, ate more cake, cuddled the niecelet, watched Goldmember (and man, Goldmember freaked me out and I'm *still* able to get ill to my stomach when watching Fat Bastard - and Tom Cruise does not do cheesy well at all). We sat up late talking. Got candles that kick ass. Folks, they actually work to get rid of the dog smell in my apartment, and that is a feat.

Spent Monday hiding from nasty rainy cold weather. Watched talk shows and visited with mom for a bit at her store. Late in the afternoon I popped in another movie: Frailty with Bill Paxton and Mathew M.
Okay, I hate Bill Paxton with a passion. He can not act. At all. Keanu Reeves is frickin Olivier compared to Paxton. Well, Paxton prooved yet again that he can't act, BUT he can direct and write. That was a very interesting movie. You can see some things coming, and yet not at all. And Matt - holy shit. Boy should play that kind of role more often. My only quibble was that the commentary after the movie indicated that the movie was seen by some of those who worked on it as a serial killer movie. Um, did you work on the same movie that I saw? Cause the ending, completely changed the whole tenor of the movie.
If you watched Miracle, watch Frailty and give me your take on it. I'm telling you, it's all weirdness.
