Had the joy today of going to the optometrist for the first time in two years. But instead of getting contacts this time, I was going for the first new pair of glasses in at least 9 years.

Boy did I learn a few things about my eyes.

First, my vision hasn't changed much in that 9 years (which is quite amazing). But my astigmatism has changed a bit, so they had to alter where the focal point was on the lense. (Uh-huh. I gots some freaky eyes.)

Second, I apparently have double vision at the bottom part of my eyes. It's not a problem now, but at some point that will have to be corrected via lenses too.

Third, no glaucoma (which is very much of the good).

Fourth, well, I about died laughing at the doctor when he told me this.

See, I have no clue what my vision is. Or really, what it was. Let's just put it this way, when I don't have my glasses on, and they do that thing where they have the eye chart on the opposite wall, well. I can tell there's a blurry white blob on the opposite wall.

Just call me Batty.

So I decided that this time I was asking exactly what my vision was. My right eye is 2400. My left is...can't see anything past three feet.

I kid you not. His actual answer was that I can't see past three feet with my left eye.

And my sister's vision is worse than mine. She's not a bat, she's a mole. Hee. Add my mom into the mix and we'll be the Three Blind Mice.

But I ordered cute new glasses that compliment my hair (those being the words of the assistant that helped me choose), and in 3-4 business days (all depending on snow and MLK) I will be looking all new and spiffy.
