Well fuck, who gave out the tiaras, and why didn't anyone tell me?

Fic Challenge - Fairy Princess Style

Stupid bunny. So, some people have already received emails about this, but here's a fic challenge, inspired by one line in Rise Above by Dystopcia.

Hallucinations from rotten apples in Mrs Kent's pie.

And bam, we get "Ooohh, kryptonite laced apples. The havoc it would wreak."

And suddenly I'm thinking Snow White. A fairy tale done Smallville style. Where the fairy princesses aren't so perfect (hell they might in fact be princes) and it's a lot harder to discern who the evil witch is.

So I dare anyone and everyone to come up with their own Smallville version of a fairy tale. Obscure or mainstream. You can be practically verbatim, or use a plot loosely and twist it to meet your characters' needs. Whatever works. Just have fun and screw with their heads.

And coincidentally, my Fairy Tale fic will be Snow White (since it is the one that inspired this madness). And oddly enough, the soundtrack I've mentally got going with it right now is "Die Another Day" by Madonna.

*nods* Twisted would be the appropriate term, correct?

Now to decide on who gets to be Snow White.

*pondering*

hehehhe how about The Robber Bridegroom (sorta a Blue Beard thing)? Or Donkeyskin (which has creepy incest fun AND all the pretty dresses from Cinderella).

all hail Tara, queen of the obscure fairy tales!

and I thought the dumpling one was left field. :)

I swear we just need to download your brain into some sort of database. It's too packed with stuff to risk walking around with everyday for some brain snatcher to have a chance at.

nah--I keep my brain on my bookshelf. Seriously, I went all crazy a few years ago and read 8 million fairy tales, revisionist fairy tales, and then there was that whole 10th Kingdom fandom thing, and it's just a fluke that I'm a total fairy tale and follore FREAK. Honest. I haven't actually cracked the Russian and Japanese anthologies yet...

Speaking of Chinese, how 'bout the Nightengale?

lord tara with the obscure. I don't even know the name of the damn dumpling thing.

once again amazed at your fannish knowledge. but I remember plot a lot more than title, but then again if I remember anything for more than five seconds I count myself lucky. count me in the lower middle of the population on that one.

There's an emporer who falls in love with the sound of the nightengale singing outside his window. The bird sings for his pleasure, and visits with him, and I think someone brings the EMporer a clockwork nightengale that takes his facy. The real bird flies off, brokenhearted. Then the emporer becomes ill and on his deathbed the bird comes back to sing for him again. I think thsi actually may be a Western fairy tale that's just set in Imperial China.
