Taking bets now:

My nose is stuffing up. My eyes are burning. And the headache I've had for days hasn't abated, and in fact, has gotten worse as my neck has gotten better. Plus I get swimmy headed when I stand up too quick.

Who wants to take bets that I have a sinus infection or a cold and *that* is what prompted all the neck trouble?

ETA: On the scale of freaky...back in middle school I had a really good friend. We were NKOTB rabid at the same time and bonded over that. Well, she just went into my mother's store to buy some stuff. Haven't seen her since 9th grade and on the day when there's talk of NKOTB getting back together...she pops up! lOL

Because the day isn't going so fabulously. Which means the need to post a pic that [ profile] lissachicka found and which just makes my day better and better every time I look at it.

NASCAR Drivers Do Halloween )

The fact that Kenseth is Bill Clinton is amusing (although I would have loved to see Katie in a picture with him).

Kurt Busch as the Big Bad Wolf in Grandma's clothing is cute.

Biffle as Nacho Libre scares the bejesus out of me (suddenly he's not hot at ALL).

But I can't get past Jamie McMurray in a skirt. Okay, so gladiator clothing doesn't necessarily constitute skirt, but still. Which leads to the poll of the day:

ETA: Currently the other named things I have are Bobby, Vincent and Cactus Jack. (Laptop, iRiver and car respectively.) So the name goes with them.

Yes, I bought a bike. It was only $60! And think of it - it's the cheaper side of deluding myself into thinking I'll really exercise this time.

(I also bought a chain to lock it up and shorts. Let it be known that the shorts are way too short and going to be a pain in the butt.)

1. Mosquito bites suck ass. Especially the one on my leg that hasn't stopped itching for two days, even though I don't touch it.

2. Hell's Kitchen: Chef Ramsey needs to rethink some things. Just sayin. Cause the final two...well, one of them deserves to be there, at least for cooking.

3. Staff meetings are boring. Yes, there was cake and ice cream. But still. That moment in the meeting when you realize that you really have to go to the bathroom? But you're the one taking minutes? Painful.

4. So Sylar (Heroes) is going to be Spock in the new Trek movie. is conducting a poll on who should play Kirk. Let it be known, Nathan Fillion is winning that one hands down right now. He's even beating Shatner.

Naming the Inanimate

I tend to place a lot of importance on naming the inanimate objects that I spend time with - my car, my iRiver, etc. I've been pondering what to name my laptop, as it's important that it have a name with the proper gravitas to go well with the other two. Plus, I've found that they take on properties of their names over time.

iRiver? Named Vincent. For he's a dark blue and contrary, so it fits that he's named after a very depressing song.

The car is Cactus Jack, for he his official color is cactus mica and Cactus Jack has the ring of someone hardy, old and cranky. Little did I realize at the time that it was also JJ Yeley's dad's nickname, as well as a movie character based off of Wile E. Coyote.

So the laptop is looking for some options. I kind of want a female name, as so far I've got two male names. The laptop is strong and hardy, one of those that looks like if you threw it across a room it could survive. (It's the nature of the design. HP was up to something.)

Also, someone, anyone, please let us all have an intervention. My coworker is wearing a banana clip. She has had people compliment her on it. Including our hairdresser! There's something wrong with the world when even stylish hairdressers are complimenting a banana clip.

Due to spending way too much time making mix CDs for my upcoming road trip, I now have compilation CDs to share. So click on the link below and see if you want any of those CDs.

ETA: For those who've seen this, I'm moving it to today so that anyone not online last night would have a chance.

One of the great things about road trips is amassing the proper song collection. After much work, I now have tonally appropriate mix CDs for different moods I may have during the trip. Yes, I am way too anal retentive.

In order to justify the time spent on this project, I am offering up the opportunity to share with my friends' list. I've got the track selections listed below the poll. You can either take your chances based on Mix name alone, or check out the tracks and make your choices.

Okay folks. I'm in a mood to write an essay, and I want to get public opinion. I want everyone to spread the news of this pole to their Smallville watching friends. Fill it out. Let me know. Where does season four of Smallville stand compared to other seasons? What's sucked? What's worked? What can be done to fix it? Let me know.
